Knotts Berry Farm Roller Coaster, Togo International

This review included Finite Element Analysis, using ALGOR, of several roller coaster components to identify high stress areas, correlate results with cracks experienced on the actual ride, and recommend corrective action.  Based on the computer results, several simple modifications were recommended which reduced the stresses well below the appropriate limits for infinite fatigue life.

The figure shown here is a stress output from one load case of the carrier chassis analysis.  Yellow and red areas show high stress while blue and purple areas are low stress.  Modifications were later added to the model which reduced the stress values in the areas shown here as red and yellow.
