Primadonna/Buffalo Bill’s Monorail, Stateline, NV

POL-X West was given the task of the review of the system for engineering certification of the monorail bogie design and recovery vehicle using ALGOR FEA analysis and 3-D CAD software.  POL-X West work also included field testing of the completed monorail recovery vehicle and strain gauge testing of the monorail train bogie assemblies. 

Based on the results of the strain gauge tests, several design modifications were recommended and implemented which reduced stress concentrations in critical areas of the bogie assemblies.  Further design review of the bogies to find ways of improving ride quality were also conducted and several modifications recommended.

This work was performed on behalf of the monorail manufacturer, Schwager Davis, Inc. in San Jose, CA.
