POL-X West, Inc. makes use of the latest CAD and Solid Modeling software available for design studies and generation of detail drawings for manufacture.  This software includes:

AUTOCAD - 2D and 3D CAD and Solid Modeling

Cadkey - 2D and 3D CAD

Solidworks - 3D Solid Modeling

Each program easily imports 2D and 3D models into ALGOR for Finite Element Analysis.

 

2D CAD Drawings

POL-X West uses both AutoCAD and Cadkey for creating 2D assembly and component detail drawings.  These formats are the most universal and easiest to exchange between our own and our clients’ computer systems.  The figure shown here is an assembly drawing of the Yan 7-96 Grip developed by POL-X West, Inc. to replace original Yan grips in detachable chairlifts.

3D CAD

POL-X west uses both AutoCAD and Cadkey for 3D CAD layouts and assemblies.  This is especially important for identifying possible interferences within assemblies and accurately defining attachment points.  The figure shown here is a 3D assembly of the lower leg of the upper terminal structure of the Mt. Roberts Tramway in Juneau, AK, designed by POL-X West.

 

3D Solid Modeling

POL-X West uses 3D solid modeling to create detailed assemblies and accurate 3D models of components which will be analyzed in any of the Finite Element Programs used.  The primary software used by POL-X West to do this is Solidworks.  Solidworks creates models in a format which is easily imported to other programs and can included animated assemblies to check freedom of movement and possible interferences.  The figure shown is a 3D model of the mobile jaw of the Yan 7-96 Grip developed by POL-X West, Inc. to replace original Yan grips in detachable chairlifts.
